Elementary Attendance Zones Meeting November 30

Community Input Meeting to be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, regarding attendance zones for some elementary schools

Humble ISD invites parents of students at Autumn Creek, Centennial, Eagle Springs, Groves, and Ridge Creek elementary schools to a Community Input Meeting regarding changes to elementary school attendance zones. The meeting will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the Summer Creek High School Performing Arts Center, 14000 Weckford Blvd. The meeting is open to the public.

Changes are being considered beginning with the 2022-2023 school year to help balance out school enrollment numbers across the southeastern portion of the district for future years. The number of students enrolled in a school fluctuates through the years as new homes are built, families move to the area, and subdivisions get built out.

The changes would affect all newly-enrolling students. Humble ISD would allow students currently enrolled in an elementary school to remain at their current school through the completion of fifth grade under a transfer.  Transportation to and from school for all transfer students in Humble ISD is the parent’s responsibility. The district will not split families: if a younger sibling enters school while a currently enrolled student is on a transfer to that school, the sibling’s transfer request will be granted so that all siblings can be at the same school together.

Gathering input at the Community Input Meeting is an important step in the process for the School Attendance Area Committee.

Following the meeting, the district will post the presentation online and collect online input from Dec. 1- 8. A recommendation could be brought to the School Board for consideration on Dec. 14.
