Update on Distance Learning: March 17, 2020
Dear Foster Families,
During Hurricane Harvey, our community pulled together to meet challenges. Once again, we are in complex and unusual circumstances that require doing things in new ways.
Foster Elementary School will continue to provide students with learning opportunities while our campus is closed.
You can expect that, just as face-to-face learning environments vary, learning will look different in different classes. Our teachers are converting their instruction to a remote learning format. By 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, information will be made available from all teachers.
Foster’s teachers will have learning opportunities for various subject areas per grade level accessible through our campus website Foster / Homepage. Once on our page scroll down to Grade Level Resources and under that tab are grade level specific learning opportunities for your children. Just click your student’s grade level to see activities to complete. Teachers will contact you by Wednesday March 18th to answer any questions and offer support for learning activities where needed.
We also want to encourage you to check out the Library’s Page Foster Library / Library Home on our website. Mrs. Balcom has uploaded many useful resources that could be helpful for your child as they work on their learning activities.
We know that this time is stressful for you and your children. We are here for you and are dedicated to making sure that all of our students experience success and are confident in their abilities. Teachers, counselors and administrators are working from home, and are not on campus. We can be reached by email. The district is working on options for parents to reach school staff by phone.
The third 9-week grading period that was originally scheduled to end on Friday, March 20, has been extended through Friday, March 27. Teachers will work with their students to complete the nine weeks.
Please note: Throughout Humble ISD, high school campuses are closed; this includes all outside facilities. Middle school tracks remain open to the public at this time. Elementary school playgrounds remain open to the public at this time, and playground equipment will be cleaned daily. Despite daily cleaning, families should be aware that the Coronavirus can live on hard surfaces for days. Health officials recommend frequent hand washing and social distancing.
Thank you for supporting Foster Elementary School as we work through these challenging constantly-evolving circumstances.
