Humble ISD Plans July Graduation Ceremonies
Wearing a cap and gown, graduating in front of family, is a treasured memory throughout life! Humble ISD is committed to providing a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020.
While graduation cannot be held on Saturday, May 23, at NRG Stadium, we are planning to hold graduation in July if permitted.
Students will be contacted about curbside pickup of caps and gowns in the weeks ahead. The Balfour plant that supplies caps and gowns shut down in order to keep their workers safe at home. This has caused the delivery of graduation items to be delayed. Humble ISD is working with Balfour to obtain the items.
Prom and Senior Picnic remain postponed. These activities will not be held in May due to the Governor’s Executive Order regarding schools.
Option 1: Humble ISD plans to hold graduation indoors if permitted.
Option 2: Humble ISD plans to hold graduation outdoors at Turner Stadium if indoor gatherings are prohibited and outdoor gatherings are allowed.
Q: How were the graduation dates selected?
The graduation dates follow the previously scheduled order of graduation times for graduation at NRG Stadium.
Q: What happens if graduation is outdoors and the weather is bad?
If weather conditions are deemed unsafe to hold a graduation ceremony at Turner Stadium, that ceremony will be rescheduled to the inclement weather dates of Saturday, July 25, or Sunday, July 26.
Q: What if physical distancing is still recommended or required?
Families may need to sit in designated areas to maintain physical distancing. The district will take all precautions necessary at the time.
Q: How many people can we bring?
If graduation is held at Turner Stadium, tickets may need to be issued to families. The number of tickets available will be determined based upon the distancing requirements in place in July.
