New design unveiled for Kingwood Middle School
Humble ISD has unveiled the new design renderings for Kingwood Middle School, scheduled to open in 2022!
The new design incorporates the concept of Kingwood’s “Livable Forest," using ample amounts of natural light and sustainable materials to combine interior and exterior spaces into a cohesive learning environment. There will be more space for collaboration, integrated physical activity and movement, and classrooms will be about 200 square feet larger. Car and bus drop-off and pick-up have also been optimized to relieve traffic on the neighboring streets.
“There will be more space for collaborative learning among students and teachers,” Associate Superintendent Nolan Correa said. “The campus will be designed for modern technology and safety features, and classroom sizes will be brought up to current standards.”
The Kingwood Middle School family has played a large role in the new look and feel of the campus. KMS parents, students and teachers provided design input for the new building in a collaborative session with Kirksey architects over the summer.
The existing school will remain open until the new school building is complete. After completion, the existing school will be removed and the athletic fields and other site amenities for the new school will be completed.
"We are excited to move into a state of the art building," said Kingwood Middle School Principal Michael Curl. "We are ready to see what the future holds for KMS."
