Letter from the Principal: January 18, 2020

Dear Humble Elementary School Families,

We are deeply saddened to share that our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Monica Poche, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 17. Mrs. Poche had undergone heart surgery on Thursday, January 16. The surgery went well. However on Friday, she experienced a medical complication and passed away.

Mrs. Poche joined Humble Elementary School as a bilingual teacher in 2003. She became our Assistant Principal in 2010. Mrs. Poche worked as an educator for a total of 24 years. Survivors include her husband, son, and daughter. Please feel free to talk with your children about this sad news over the weekend as you find appropriate for your family.

When we return to school on Tuesday, we will begin the day with activities that children find comforting. Students will choose activities in their classrooms such as making art, writing, reading books, or being at centers. Our teachers will be especially sensitive to feelings. Humble ISD will have extra counselors at our school for any staff member or student who is in need of emotional support.

Thank you for keeping Mrs. Poche's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve together.

Sincerely,
Veronica Hernandez
Principal
