Humble ISD high school students sort gifts outside Turner Stadium as part of the "Fill the Bus" gift donation drive.
In an effort to make the holidays happier for area families in need, Humble ISD high school students involved in fine arts and athletics teamed up for “Fill the Bus.”
The effort supports the Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM) Empty Stocking Toy Drive. Thanks to all the support, over 1,000 toys were collected.
Organizer Matthew Smith was pleased with those who answered the call to help.
“We filled an entire room at the church before HAAM began organizing,” Smith said. Smith is also Humble ISD’s Coordinator of Elementary Counseling and Behavioral Services.
Students participating in "Fill the Bus" help load gift donations onto school buses outside Turner Stadium.
Donations were brought to Turner Stadium and loaded onto a school bus. From the stadium, the gifts were then transported to the Light of the World Church and prepared for distribution.
The church will host a shopping event where gifts will be distributed on Dec. 18 for needy families to help make their holidays a bit brighter.
