Humble ISD’s Super Staffers of the Month were recognized at the regularly scheduled Board Meeting on Oct. 15. This month’s Super Staffer Awards is sponsored by Humble ISD Education Foundation. Pictured from left are School Board President Nancy Morrison, Kingwood Park High School SPED Support Staff Tiffany May, Technology Department VM Administrator Ken Hair, and Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Fagen. Not pictured is Timbers Elementary Reading/Language Arts Academic Lead Teacher Kasandra Elvir.

Honored at the Board Meeting were the following Super Staffers:

Kasandra Elvir — Timbers Elementary, RELA Alt
Those who nominated her said, "Mrs. Elvir is the Kindergarten-Second Grade RELA ALT at Timbers Elementary. She is such an amazing support to our staff! She goes out of her way to not only plan, but also model great reading instruction for teachers. She plans the lesson that she will model as if she is doing it with her own class and is willing to go into a teacher's classroom for several days to take the class through the entire lesson cycle with a book. This has not only led to great relationships with teachers, but with our scholars as well. They trust her as a knowledgeable professional and as someone who is willing to get in the weeds with them. That makes a huge difference when it's time to plan reading lessons that will have the most impact on scholar learning, and it has made the adoption of the new curriculum resources just a little bit easier. Her attitude and want to be an amazing resource makes her a super staffer! We are so blessed to have her on our team!"

Tiffany May— Kingwood Park High School, SPED Support Staff
Those who nominated her said, "Tiffany has a vast and wide range of knowledge concerning students with disabilities. She understands the needs and nuances of working with all types of students, whether they need behavioral, academic, social, or emotional support. Although specifically assigned to our SPEAK (autism) program three periods and 1:1 four periods, she helps all students within the classes she attends. If her assigned students are taken care of and good, she seeks out ways to assist the other students and teachers. Tiffany shows up to work each day with a renewed spirit and gives each student the benefit of it being a new day no matter what happened the day before. She is personally invested in the success of ALL students at Kingwood Park High School."

Ken Hair — BBTC, VM Administrator
Those who nominated him said, "Ken Hair has a positive attitude with every problem he encounters. His role has him interacting with almost all departments throughout the district. Ken’s calm and friendly demeanor assures his co-workers that they are in good hands. An example of Ken going above and beyond his normal call of duty is volunteering once a month to monitor the network on the weekend and repair any issues that may arise so the students and staff of Humble ISD have connectivity when they arrive on Monday morning. Ken is a great asset to Humble ISD and Humble ISD’s Technology Department."

Each month, campuses and departments select an individual to be honored as a Super Staffer for their outstanding work in advancing student achievement. A drawing is held and three honorees receive additional recognition at the School Board Meeting, including a $100 gift card to Pappas Restaurants thanks to an award sponsor.
