Kingwood Kiwanis makes donation to Community Learning Center programs
Kingwood Kiwanis recently donated essential classroom supplies to help Humble ISD students who are receiving support in district specialized programming at the Community Learning Center. Kingwood Kiwanis has been a community partner to Humble ISD for more than 20 years and they serve as the community sponsor for all Humble ISD Key Clubs. The local organization is a part of a global network dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.
Humble ISD Counseling and Behavioral Services provides special services for students who have needs that cannot be met by typical instructional practices. Therefore, additional resources are provided to ensure that students are successful. The Community Learning Center in conjunction with the district Counseling and Behavioral Services team assembled a list of specific needs and Kingwood Kiwanis was able to provide the resources to meet those needs and more. The donated items will be used to help students across the district gain the skills needed for college, career opportunities, and beyond.
Kingwood Kiwanis also donated materials to help students bring their project-based learning activities to life. The Fall Linear Lanterns project provided students with an opportunity to design pumpkins using linear equations, use those equations to carve their pumpkins, create children’s books based on their pumpkin and share their books with district elementary students.
“Humble ISD is grateful for Kingwood Kiwanis continued support of students and staff,” Jerri Monbaron, Executive Director of Community Development, said.
