Humble Middle School Continues as an AVID Demonstration School

Humble Middle School was re-validated as an AVID National Demonstration School through 2022. Dr. Charles Ned, Director of Advanced Academics, announced the achievement at the November School Board Meeting.
AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) National Demonstration Schools are held up as exemplary models that educators visit to learn from the best. Every three years, AVID National Demonstration Schools must undergo a process to be re-validated to retain that honor.
This is an honor earned by less than two percent of the 6,000 schools with AVID programs. As a National Demonstration School, HMS will continue to share AVID best practices with educators from across the country.
While presenting the achievement, Charles Ned said, "The AVID Validation team commended HMS on the high-quality instruction, leadership opportunities for both students and teachers, a campus culture built on relationships, and the many systems in place to support the AVID College Readiness System campus-wide."
"Congratulations to HMS Principal Sarahdia Johnson and her team in establishing a campus culture that embodies all that AVID represents and practices that enable students to make their best better," said Ned.
