Humble ISD School Board President Charles Cunningham sworn in as officer of statewide association board
Humble ISD School Board President Charles Cunningham has been chosen as a state officer for the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), an association that represents the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. School board trustees represent school districts serving more than 5.3 million public school students.
Cunningham holds one of six officer positions, serving as TASB Secretary-Treasurer. TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949. Cunningham was first elected to the TASB Board of Directors in 2014 and became an officer in 2018.
Since 2007, Cunningham has served on the Humble ISD Board of Trustees. He is chair of the Audit Committee and is a member of the Advocacy Committee and the Finance Committee. Cunningham also is the past President of the Gulf Coast Area Association of Schools Boards (GCAASB), made up of more than 50 school boards.
He is married to Stella Cunningham, a public school teacher, and they have lived in Humble ISD for 23 years. He is a U.S. Army veteran.
A graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University, Cunningham is a Key Accounts Consultant for CenterPoint Energy.
The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards selected the Humble ISD School Board as the 2018 winner of the statewide Outstanding School Board Award.
