Woodcreek Middle School Orchestra was named a Commended Winner in the 2018 Mark of Excellence National Orchestra Honors project. This includes both the Honor Band and Chamber Orchestra. The Mark of Excellence is a national school music contest that honors secondary music programs and ensembles for high standards in performance. This project is sponsored by The Foundation for Music Education.
"The Woodcreek Middle School Orchestra is a wonderful example of musical achievement," Alan Hanna, Executive Director of The Foundation for Music Education said.
Last year, Woodcreek Middle orchestra directors, Heather Davis and Fernando Schirmer, submitted musical performance recordings from earlier in the school year. The music competition was judged by several well-versed musicians and directors. This year the school was one of eight ensembles chosen for this title.
