Bear Branch, Elm Grove, Foster, and Woodland Hills elementary schools competed in the final Get in the Game community kickball tournament on April 27. Each year, the elementary campuses form kickball teams and compete in the tournament to raise money. Every year the funds go to a different school and this year the funds will benefit Bear Branch Elementary.
“We have been waiting four years to receive the proceeds for the game. It is a happy coincidence that it also fell on BBE’s 40th birthday,” Kathryn Palmer, Bear Branch Elementary principal, said. “It has been wonderful collaborating with our fellow Kingwood Park High School feeder elementary schools to raise money to benefit all of our students and create a sense of comradery among the schools.”
The tournament also included a halftime show which featured a very special homecoming court. During halftime, former Bear Branch Elementary principals, Carolyn Clapp, Willie Eakin, and Kay Pruitt, were recognized and Patti Dickinson was crowned Homecoming Queen. Dickinson has worked at Bear Branch Elementary for 40 years. She has taught all grade levels and now is a guest teacher at the campus.
