Regional Astronomy Day at the Insperity Observatory

Regional Astronomy Day


Humble ISD is hosting its first annual Regional Astronomy Day at the Insperity Observatory.  The event is family friendly, open to the public, and there is no charge to participate. “This is an opportunity for the community to come and observe Humble ISD’s astronomical observatory and the universe,” Dr. Aaron Clevenson, Director of Insperity Observatory.


The Humble ISD Regional Astronomy Day will be held from 3 p.m to 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at the Insperity Observatory located at 2505 S. Houston Avenue, Humble, TX 77396.


There will be a variety of daytime and evening activities:


Daylight Activities: 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Solar Observing
  • Solar Spectroscopy
  • Transit of the International Space Stations across the Sun
  • Tours of the Observatory
  • Tours of the Art in Astronomy Projects
  • Indoor Talks
  • Outdoor Talks
  • Activity Tables


Evening Activities: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Night Sky Observing with the observatory telescopes 
  • Night Sky Observing with the astronomer deck telescopes
  • Indoor Talks
