Five Humble ISD students have artwork displayed at State Capitol

Five Humble ISD students had their artwork chosen to be displayed in the Youth Art Month (YAM) State Capitol Artwork Exhibit in Austin, TX. Each year, districts across the state submit artwork made by Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade artists to be selected for the exhibit. The exhibit was held in the lower rotunda of the Texas State Capitol Building from February 25 through March 11, 2018 and contained 100 pieces. The five Humble ISD students whose artwork was selected are: Emma Ortiz Rojas, Creekwood Middle School; Dana Kim, Atascocita Middle School; Lauren Loth, Maplebrook Elementary; Julia Martin, Humble Elementary; and Kathryn Kotter, Greentree Elementary.

 

Kathryn earned a special distinction as her artwork was one of fourteen chosen for the 2018 Governor’s Gallery. Each year the Office of the First Lady of Texas selects a group of artworks from the YAM State Capitol Exhibit to be showcased in the Governor’s Business Office for one year. The works are framed and the students are invited to a private reception in their honor.

 

The five students were recognized for their achievement at the Humble ISD Board of Trustees meeting held on March 20.
