State Champion wrestler recognized at Board meeting
Eloni Sowell, the 2018 Texas Class 5A Girls 185-pound state wrestling champion, was recognized at the Humble ISD Board of Trustees meeting on March 20.
Eloni moved to Humble ISD from New Orleans in 2014. She entered joined the Humble High School Wildcat family as a sophomore. For the past three years she has been an active member of the ROTC program and a 3-year letter winner on the wrestling team. She won 5th place in State last year before winning the gold medal this year. Through her senior campaign she had only one loss.
Eloni plans to attend Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX where she will continue to wrestle. She plans to major in Criminal Justice and eventually pursue a career in law enforcement.
