CMS band director elected to Phi Beta Mu Bandmaster Fraternity
Missy Allen, Creekwood Middle School Director of Bands, was elected to be inducted into Phi Beta Mu. Phi Beta Mu is an International School Bandmaster Fraternity with active members located in most of the 50 states, Canada, Japan and Europe.
Allen was inducted at the annual new members breakfast in San Antonio on February 17. In order to be considered for membership in Phi Beta Mu, members must have at least ten years of teaching experience and must have produced and maintained an outstanding and consistent band program in public schools. Allen is currently the only Humble ISD Band Director in the organization.
During her eleven years as Director of Bands at Creekwood Middle School, she has led performing groups that have earned consistent UIL Sweepstakes and festival awards. Most recently the Creekwood Percussion Ensemble was invited to perform at the 2017 Midwest Clinic - an international band, orchestra and music conference held every year in Chicago. The Midwest Clinic has over 17,000 participants from all 50 states and over 30 foreign countries. She is currently in her second year as the Middle School Band Region Chairman for Region 33 and is also a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association.
“I am honored and proud to be a member of an organization whose main purpose is that of servitude,” Allen said.
