PFE celebrates ten years of Polar Express Day

Pine Forest Elementary celebrated 10 years of Polar Express Day. Each year the PFE campus is transformed into the Chris Van Allsburg children’s book, The Polar Express. The day includes a special reading of the book with special visits from Santa Claus and the Conductor. This year the special guest readers included KPRC-2 Meteorologist Britta Merwin and Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools Luci Schulz.

In 2007, School Board Trustee and former Pine Forest Elementary principal, Nancy Morrison helped bring Polar Express Day to life. Snow,Hot Cocoa, Santa Claus, and a real train are just a few of the surprises students experience each year. In addition to reading The Polar Express, the Pine Forest Choir sang several holiday songs and students from the Pine Forest Piano Ensemble, Lyndi Eargle and Reagan Milton, played “When Christmas Comes to Town.”
