Houston Texans, Brian Peters surprises AHS teachers

Brian Peters, Houston Texans linebacker, and Amber Magee Vice President of Marketing for First Community Credit Union surprised Atascocita High School teachers David Duez and Tabetha Deutsch with a new title, Stars in the Classroom.  Both teachers were nominated for the Houston Texans/First Community Credit Union Stars in the Classroom award by their students. The Stars in the Classroom program gives students the opportunity to say thank you to a teacher that has made an impact on them.

Duez, an AP History/Psychology teacher, was nominated by his former student Madison Collier. Although away at college, Collier made sure to Facetime in for the big surprise. She boasts, “Mr. Duez is easily one of the greatest teachers I’ve ever had and I was lucky enough to have him as a teacher twice.”

Deutsch was nominated by her junior Biology student, Immanuella Eyobio. Eyobio credits Deutsch for pushing her to be her best. “She instilled a love of learning in me and she deserves all the recognition in the world.

 

Each teacher received a commemorative custom game ball, two tickets to a Houston Texans home game, a $500 donation to the school district in honor of the teacher, and a $200 Palais Royal gift card.
