Nine Atascocita High School Latin students won 24 awards at the National Jr. Classical League Convention held at Troy University in Troy, Alabama. Over 2,000 Latin and Greek students participated in the competition representing 35 states. National Junior Classical League encourages student interest and an appreciation of the language, literature, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome. In addition to the competition, the convention provides leadership opportunities for state officers.  Nathaniel Jennings and Katherine O'Brien are 2017-2018 representatives for the Houston area and serve on the student board of the Texas State Jr. Classical League. During the convention, Jennings and O’Brien helped lead the state spirit days winning 2nd and 3rd place awards.  With the help of AHS Latin Club members, they organized, sold, packaged and delivered over 900 t-shirts to the entire Texas delegation for the spirit days.
