HHS JROTC students participate in Police Memorial Ceremony

U.S. Congressman Ted Poe and the City of Humble hosted the second annual North Houston Police Memorial Ceremony at the Humble Civic Center on May 16. Humble High School JROTC students participated in this event by providing a standing line of American Flags through which police officers entered the building.

The North Houston Policed Memorial Ceremony honored 2015 Fallen Peace Officers for their sacrifice. The fallen from the Houston area included Houston Police Officer Richard Martin, Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Darren Goforth and Harris County Sheriff’s Office Detention Officer Tronoski Jones. There were a total of 13 officers from the state of Texas who were killed in the line of duty in 2015. The event also recognizes and honors local police officers for their hard work and dedication.

National Police Week is May 15-21. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
