March 7 Humble Middle School Day

Humble Mayor Merle Aaron proclaimed March 7, 2016, as Humble Middle School AVID National Demonstration School Day. Humble Middle School recently became just the third school in the Greater Houston area, and 28th in the state, to meet the AVID National Demonstration School standards.  As an AVID National Demonstration School, Humble Middle School will be visited by schools across the region that wish to model their AVID Program.

Participants in the Humble City Hall ceremony included HMS AVID students Breanna McIntire, Brandon Moore, Skye Iverson, DeAnthony Lee, Jacey Patterson, Jeremy Hill, Paige Allen, Samantha Gradney, Braden Sheldon and Nancy Flores. HMS staff members Teacher Delena Medina, Secretary Natahia Dawkins, and Principal Henry Phipps participated along with Humble ISD AVID Facilitator Sally Wagner.

Also attending the ceremony were Deputy Superintendent/Chief Academic Officer Dr. Tommy Price, Assistant Superintendent for Middle Schools Melissa Hayhurst, Creekwood Middle School Principal Walt Winkick, Timberwood Middle School Principal Ken Buck and Riverwood Middle School Principal Donnie Bodron.
