Oaks Elementary has a new marquee
“During the past two years, we worked at raising more than $23,000 for an electronic marquee to replace the old school sign,” said PTA volunteer Herbert Gordon. “The previous sign was about 20 years old. As it aged, the sign’s case became cracked and water would leak inside. Mold was spreading in the case and on the letters. The sign was difficult to maintain, difficult to read, and difficult to replace the letters while holding up the heavy old cover.” said Gordon. “We wanted to replace it with something that could communicate multiple messages clearly and quickly.”
“The new electronic marquee will help our school communicate important dates and reminders to Oaks Elementary families and to the community in a timely way,” said Oaks Elementary Principal Cheryl Fennell.
The Oaks Elementary wishes to thank the following donors: Oaks of Atascocita Improvement Association, Lowes-Atascocita-Store Manager David Guajardo, former Oaks PTA President Tricia Weaver, current PTA President Courtney Baade, Red Door Realty and Associates-Christi Harvey and Jill Henderson, Humble Italiano’s Restaurant & Banquet Facility-Al Sadiku and Suzie Kumbarcja, First Choice Emergency Room-Teena Duplantis Sandburg, LBP Fabric of America Fund-Jeff & Eileen Adams, Lorrinzo and Becky Garcia, former PTA Council President Marilyn Mann, Herbert Gordon, current PTA Council President Laura Clark, and the Humble ISD Maintenance Department for their assistance and supervision with electronics and installation.
