Humble ISD to host College Night on September 28 at Humble Civic Center

College Night Monday, Sept. 28
Texas is the fourth largest state for the number of colleges totaling 208, according to the Digest of Education Statistics. The entire United States has over 4,216 degree-granting institutes to choose and attend. Where does one begin? Where does one start? Humble ISD has the answers. On Monday, September 28, 2015, Humble ISD in partnership with the Humble ISD Council of PTAs will host College Night from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Humble Civic Center located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway, Humble.
Colleges and universities from across the United States and Mexico will be in attendance for this event. “The rivalry colleges of Texas A&M and University of Texas are at the top of the guest list followed by Texas Tech, Louisiana State University, and Lone Star College,” comments Lesa Pritchard, Director of Student Support Services.   College Night will also offer bacterial meningitis shots at a cost of $20.00. Insurance will be accepted.
The Houston Livestock and Rodeo Scholarship will host a workshop for attendees of College Night to inform students and parents about the variety of scholarships offered. Christina Spears, Masters of Education and scholarship presenter for Parent Education programs in Humble ISD will be available for questions and answers. Spears will focus on local and state scholarships available to students. Heather Woelfel, formed educator will be on hand to help students with a Career Assessment questionnaire. Students can find out if there interest lie in science, art, teaching, ministry, forestry, or any job imaginable.
Snacks and drinks will be available for sale for guests attending the event. All proceeds will benefit the Humble ISD Council of PTAs Scholarship Fund. Last year, the Humble ISD Council of PTAs awarded 19 scholarships at $500 each for seniors in all six high schools in Humble ISD.
