AHS Latin Club returned victorious from the 62nd Annual National Jr. Classical League Convention

Atascocita High School Latin Club returned victorious from the 62nd Annual National Jr. Classical League Convention held at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas from July 27 to August 1. 1650 students were in attendance from across the United States and Canada.
 
Our students were recognized on the national level for their scholarship and leadership.
 
Freshman, Blake Turney (rising 10th grader), placed 1st in Open Certamen (Latin academic Quiz Bowl), 3rd in Greek Derivatives, 5th in Constructed Charts and 6th in Traditional Photography.
 
Johnny Painter, rising AHS Senior,  placed 1st in the Large Models Category for his working model of a Clepsydra (Roman Water Clock).
 
Kaitlyne Garza, rising Junior, placed 1st in Traditional Photography and 1st in Greek Jewelry, 4th in Large Models for her Roman Standard, and 4th in Textiles.  She also received a 6th place medal for Club Scrapbook.
 
Johnny and Kaitlyne are serving on the TSJCL State Board this year as State Convention Coordinators.
 
Freshman, Nate Jennings, (rising 10th grader) placed 2nd in Computer Enhanced Photography and 9th in Traditional Photography.
 
Sophomore, Erica Boutte, (rising 11th grader) placed 3rd in Computer Enhanced Photography, 5th in Small Models, 7th in Constructed Charts and 8th in Illustrated Latin Quotations.
 
Leilani Hamilton, 2015 graduate from AHS, served as the 2014 - 2015 Texas State Jr. Classical League Historian and placed 3rd in State Scrapbooks.  She also won 3rd place in posters, 4th in 200 Meter Girls Track and 7th in 100 Meter Girls Track.  Leilani was elected Historian for the Texas Senior Classical League and will serve from a chapter at Sam Houston State University this fall.
 
Sean Castleman, 2015 graduate from AHS,  placed 4th in Computer Enhanced Photography.  Sean was elected Parliamentarian for the Texas Senior Classical League and will serve from a chapter at Texas A&M University this fall.
 
Jordan Pilkenton, rising AHS Senior, placed 6th in Black Pencil Drawing.
 
Nicole Perez, rising sophomore, placed 8th in Handmade Dolls.
