On February 25 The Humble ISD Council of PTAs hosted a group of students and adults who traveled to our state capitol to participate in Texas PTA Rally Day in Austin. There were 41 total participants, 21 adults and 20 students. The Humble Council had the largest group of students in the caucus. During the Legislative Caucus attendees had the opportunity to hear Bills being presented during the 84th Texas Legislative session.
The participants heard Representatives discuss bills that pertain to Texas public schools.
The student caucus met with Representative Brooks Landgraf, one of the youngest Representatives in Austin, who discussed parliamentary procedure and the electoral process. Representative Landgraf took the time to meet personally with the students participating in PTA Rally Day. Students were able to ask questions about the electoral process, and current legislative issues.
day ended with legislative meetings and the Humble ISD participants had
the privilege of meeting privately with Representative Dan Huberty and Chairman
Jimmie Don Aycock. The legislators were very generous with their time and
actively listened to the questions and concerns voiced by the students,
parents and teachers.
