Humble ISD High School Students raise $3,800 for amputees in need

Atascocita High, Humble High and Summer Creek High raised $3,800 for LIMBS International, providing 13 prosthetic legs to amputees in need.

The money was raised during the second annual Dance Your Legs ON dance-a-thon held on March 20-21 at the AHS Cafeteria. LIMBS International, is a nonprofit organization providing low-cost, high-quality prosthetic legs to amputees in developing countries.

Student service organizations from across the district contributed donations of baked goods for the dancers as well as solicited donations and pledges to support the dance-a-thon’s fundraiser. Organizations contributing to LIMBS International include AHS Student Council, SCHS Student Council, Best Buddies, AHS Spanish National Honor Society, SCHS Spanish National Honor Society, AHS Beta Club, AHS Key Club, AHS National Honor Society and AHS Social Action. In addition, Nothing Bundt Cakes donated 10 dozen bundtinis to help student dancers stay energized through the night.

This year’s Dance Your Legs ON theme was “Dance of the Ages.” Awards were given to those with the best costume and dance moves from each decade or era.

Donations are still being collected. For information contact Monique Zibi, the AHS National Honor Society sponsor, at
