Humble ISD will host live publisher presentations of instructional materials for Social Studies K-12 and High School Math on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Atascocita High School, 13300 Will Clayton Parkway.
The updated instructional materials are being considered for the 2015-2016 school year. The State Board of Education approves updated or new instructional materials according to an adoption cycle. At this time, the cycle includes social studies and high school math.
For math, there will be 30-minute sessions from the publishers. There will be nine publishers participating, and teachers choose which sessions to attend. Rubrics will be provided to teachers to rate products. For social studies, there will be staggered 45-minute sessions. Participating publishers for social studies include Pearson, McGraw-Hill, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt/ Holt McDougal, W.W. Norton, Cengage, EMC Publishing, Teacher Created Materials, Social Studies Weekly and others. Feedback from the live publisher presentations will be considered by the Humble ISD Instructional Materials Committee before making final selections. Recommendations for the adoption of instructional materials will be considered by the Humble ISD Board of Trustees at its regularly scheduled meeting March 17, 2015.
