WPE celebrates 25 years of excellence

Whispering Pines Elementary is celebrating their 25th anniversary this year! Friday, Oct. 28 the campus invited former students, staff and principals to attend their anniversary celebration. Guest speakers included current principal, Pat Gnatzig, 5th-grader Gracie Sharp, Charlotte Coffelt WPE’s first principal, Karen Thurman, WPE’s 3rd principal and WPE PTA Members Joy Weatherspoon and Jessica Bevel. The celebration included a cake reception, school tours and ended with watching The Lego Movie under the stars. The WPE theme this year is taken from the recently released Lego Movie. One of the main principles of the movie is "Everything is awesome when you're part of a team!" The school decided this was a perfect theme for their 25th year. "Building on 25 years of Excellence!" Whispering Pines opened in 1991 under the direction of Charlotte Coffelt. It was Humble ISD’s 15th elementary school to open. The school colors are green, black and white and the mascot is a panda. Currently WPE serves 697 students K-5th grade.
