Congratulations are in order for three of Kingwood High School’s debate members!

The National Speech & Debate Association announced the 2016-2017 USA Debate Team. Over 150,000 students applied and only 9 high school students were selected to represent our country on the USA Debate team.

Kingwood High School senior Colette Faulkner has been chosen for the 2016- 2017 USA Debate Team. The USA Debate team is a collective group of students from across the country and Colette is one of three students from Texas. She will have the opportunity to compete in several competitions and travel across the globe this year.

The USA team will compete in World Schools style debate. This format combines the concepts of prepared and impromptu topics, encouraging students to focus on specified issues rather than theory or procedural arguments.

In addition to the USA Debate team, nine underclassmen were selected to the USA Debate Development Team. This team will train and practice with the USA Debate coaches and alumni to learn more about World Schools Debate.

Kingwood High School sophomores Emily Grantham and Leila Saklou were selected to participate on the USA Debate Development Team.
