AHS yearbook program receives top honors
The Atascocita High School Yearbook Program has been nationally recognized by Jostens. Atascocita High School’s yearbook was named one of the top yearbook designs in the country for the 2015-2016 school year. Out of 40,000 entries only 428 are selected to be recognized in the 2016-2017 Jostens Display Book.
The 2015-2016 design honored the 10th Anniversary of Atascocita High School. The chronological book started with events that took place over the summer before the beginning of the school year and ended with spring semester events and graduation.
“This was my first year as Yearbook Adviser and I have an outstanding and hardworking yearbook staff,” Kevin Tatum, Atascocita High School Yearbook Adviser, said. “Our staff is hungry for success and very competitive.”
The AHS Yearbook Program also finished in First Place out of 32 schools in July of 2016 for Best Overall Yearbook Design Layout for the 2016-2017 School Year at the annual Jostens-Houston Yearbook Workshop in League City. This year the layout design was based on journeys. The staff wanted to design a layout that would speak to the mental and physical journey high school students go through.
On Friday, May 19 the Yearbook Staff will distribute all sold yearbooks to students at their annual yearbook signing celebration. The staff was expected to sell at least 950 yearbooks and this year they have surpassed their goal by selling 1,020. They have also tripled their Yearbook Ad sales from last year. The staff hopes to sell an additional 200 yearbooks during their signing event and will be returning to the Yearbook Workshop in July to defend their title.
