AMS shines at State Technology Competition
Atascocita Middle School brought home third place at the Technology Student Association State Competition in Waco. Technology Student Association (TSA) is a technology based organization that promotes careers in STEM fields. Eighteen members of the school’s Technology Student Association members entered 96 entries.
Entries included both team and individual national qualifying events like technology essays, leadership strategies, and prepared speeches. Other events students participated in were hand-made projects and computer application projects. The students scored high in multiple events and took home third place for Outstanding Large Middle School in the state for overall points received from all 96 entries. Seventy-seven of those entries ranked in the top five and were recognized as state finalists.
Several of the students will move on to nationals, which will take place in Orlando, Florida this summer. TSA students are sponsored by Atascocita Middle School CTE teachers Darrell and Stephanie Tompkins.
