KHS German Club wins State Sweepstakes title fifth year in a row
Kingwood High School German Club students won first place in the state at the Texas State German Club Contest in San Marcos, Texas. The group competed in both individual and team events to bring home the State Sweepstakes winner for the fifth year in a row. The contest allows students to practice the German language outside of the classroom. After two months of preparing for the competition the school competed against 64 other schools and placed first overall.
This is the first year the school has taken eighth graders from Creekwood Middle School and Riverwood Middle School to the competition. The middle school students travel to Kingwood High School for German class and receive high school credit. The students competed in various individual and team events. There were 13 first place finishers, 47 top five finishers, and 75 top ten finishers.
