Humble High School hosted their first annual UIL Academic Meet, January 13-14. Fifteen schools competed in 24 different events. The competition was open to all Humble ISD Middle and High Schools. Schools as far away as Beaumont and Alvin competed. The Humble High School Academic team conducted the competition hosting 250 students.
“Our academic team did a fantastic job,” Timothy Nichols Humble High School Academic Meet Coordinator said. “All of the coaches were very happy with our first competition, and the students represented Humble High School exceptionally well.”
Academic events included Mathematics, Speech and Debate, News Writing, Social Studies, and Computer Science. The Kingwood Park High School UIL Academic Team took the first Overall Sweepstakes award at the invitational tournament. Students had the opportunity to win medals 1st – 3rd and ribbons for 4th – 10th. Team trophies were also awarded per event.
Kingwood High School, Kingwood Park High School, and Summer Creek High School students did exceptionally well all placing in both individual and team events.
“We could not be happier with the results of the competition and are ready to host the Wildcat Invitational again next year,” Nichols said.
