Toro visits PFE to take the Bull out of Bullying
The Texans anti-bullying initiative, “TORO Takes the BULL out of Bullying” is an educational assembly led by Toro and his friends to teach students how to remove bullying from their schools.
“I think this program is a great way to kick off the New Year,” TJ Hall, Pine Forest Elementary, said. “It is a reminder to the students that we are an anti-bullying campus and we must treat others with respect.”
Since Toro does not talk a few members of the Houston Texans family helped him with his presentation through a pre-recorded video. The video included Linebacker Brian Cushing, Texans Cheerleader Ashley R., and Outside Linebacker Whitney Mercilus.
The 45-minute presentation focused on tips for bullying and what to do if you see someone else being bullied. Students also learned ways to recognize bullying and different roles people play in bullying.
Linebacker Brian Cushing informed the students of the four types of bullying which included, big mouth bullying, hands-on bullying, stay out bullying, and cyber bullying.
Toro and Houston Texans, outside linebacker, Whitney Mercilus gave the students a call to action to remember how to combat bullying.
B – Be Confident
U – Use Your Voice
L - Leave
L – Look Out for Others
Y – “Y” Would You Bully?
At the end of the presentation the students were able to answer questions about the presentation. If they answered correctly they were given a cool prize from Toro.
The anti-bullying program was brought to Pine Forest by PFE parents David and Annie Brady and coordinated by Pine Forest Elementary Counselor Jennifer Vandenbrook.
The program is sponsored by the Houston Texans and National Oilwell Varco (NOV). For more information about TORO Takes the BULL out of Bullying please visit, www.houstontexans.com/bullying.
