2022-2023 Choir Placement Results - updated 5/23

I am very excited about next year's Choirs. Every Choir will perform throughout the year and will be given a variety of quality music to sing.  All students will be expected to know by the end of the year (if they don't already) how to read music using solfege, letter names for the bass and treble clef, key signatures, and some keyboard knowledge.

With more advanced choirs, students will be expected to know this information and perform with singing technique to a more advanced degree.  Every student, no matter which Choir, will be welcomed into an emotionally safe place where he/she feels free to take risks and grow whatever skills and knowledge he/she currently possesses.  Our goal is to place students into a choir that will allow them to flourish!

Inevitably, there will be a few of you who may be discouraged based on your placement.  Don't be! We believe in you and want to see you continue to grow and contribute to one another's amazing high school choir experience.

Student Placements

If your name is not listed here then you will be in the Treble Choir (women) or Vox Fortis (men).  If you are a transfer student or an upper classmen new to the SCHS Choir and you would like to audition for a different choir, please email amanda.robison@humbleisd.net. (All freshmen men are placed into Vox Fortis. Freshman women are placed into Bella Vox based on their middle school choir recommendation. The following critiera were used: vocal ability, work ethic, sightreading ability, musicianship, growth mindset, works well in a team, and positive attitude).

If you are not in the Choir that you wanted to be in, please understand that we place you in the Choir where we think you will be most successful.  We also have to consider the health and size of each group.  Many factors play a part in the decision for current SCHS Choir students including the criteria as listed for Bella Vox, a student's sightreading ability in addition to each student's grade.  You are always welcome to email us (or talk with us) with questions about our decision.
