• 05/11/17 - AAIM & HIM Workshop

    In an effort to expose African American and Hispanic young men ages 13-15, to life after high school, Lone Star College at Kingwood has created an intensive week long outreach program.  The program is the African American Institute for Males (AAIM) and the Hispanic Institute for Males (HIM) will take place of Monday, June 19 – Thursday, 22, 2017.

    Participants of the program will meet on the Lone Star College-Kingwood campus for the week and learning will be focused on the following:  key life skills, interviewing skills, and studying their perspective history. Those who attend will also have the opportunity to be mentored.  In addition, participants will engage in leadership workshops and hands on activities, all while interacting with Lone Star College-Kingwood faculty and staff who are committed to their success. During this institutes, participants will learn key leadership principles that will prepare them for college.

    There is no cost to participate in the program.  Please share this information and the attached applications with young men at your school who you know will benefit from this program.  Please have them to return their completed packets by, Friday, May 26, 2017.

    If you are interested in joining the Summer Creek girls Cross Country Team our interest meeting is May 16, at 6:00 pm in the Carbon LGI.

    This is just a reminder to  seniors that have received a scholarship and you would like to have that information published in the graduation program, you need to submit that information to Mrs. Goree in the Registrar's Office by March 31, 2017

    The Humble ISD Cyber Shock Robotics Team is prepared to wow you! You are invited to attend the 2017 FIRST Robotics Regional Competition on Saturday, April 1, at College Park High School, 3701 College Park Drive, The Woodlands, Tx  77384.  You will see our robot compete with other robots from around the world as we attempt to outscore the competition in various tasks.  Please come to learn more about robotics and support our team. It is family fun!

    All names for the graduation program must be verified by going to Ms. Goree’s office, 1007A, which is located in the Registrar’s office suite.

    We are now accepting applications for Health Science Technology Class.  Students MUST have taken Principles of Health Science to apply.  Please come by Mrs. Smith's Rm 2613 to get an application.  Applications are due April 4, 2017.
    Attention Seniors: It is the time that you have all been waiting for! Prom tickets will begin to be sold next week, on Wednesday and Thursday during all lunches. That is February 8th and 9th, during all lunches, for only $70. This is a one week special. The price will be going up after next week. We will only be selling on Wednesdays and Thursdays. You must pick up a permission slip form from the Copper House secretaries desks before you can purchase your ticket. If you have any questions, you can ask Ms. Hueske in 1707 or any of your class officers.  
    The C.A.T.E department is hosting an in school career fair. The fair will be held on February 8th and 9th all day with the exception of 5th period. We welcome you to come and bring your classes to see what the CATE department has to offer! Please note that seating is limited. The fair will be held in the Silver LGI.     AP students: AP exam registration is open online now and the deadline is March 24th. See your AP teacher or the posters in the hall for more information. Scholarship applications are available in Gold 2 and are due by Feb. 17th.
    In September, the Summer Creek High School Choir took 40 students to compete in the first round of All-State Choir Auditions.  The students competed against several school districts in the area for the coveted spots.
    Summer Creek had 16 students earn a place in the Region 33 Choirs, which will be performing on November 12 at 5:30 PM at the Dekaney High School Performing Arts Center.  Following the 2nd round of auditions held a few weeks ago, 10 of the 16 students will have an opportunity to compete at the Pre-Area Round of All-State Auditions in December hosted by Summer Creek.

    Anyone interested in trying out for soccer must have a physical on file and have all paperwork completed BEFORE Wednesday, November 16th. You must sign up with Coach Cancanon or Coach Cantu in order to tryout. No exceptions.

    The Boy's Cross Country Program concluded their regular season with a 4th place finish as a team at the 21-6a District Meet held at Atascocita High School yesterday. The Bulldogs were led by Travis Jacobs who placed 7th overall to advance to the Regional Meet held at Sam Houston next Saturday.
    Other medal winners include Junior Varsity Runner Clifton Journet, and Freshman Runner Reginal Black.

    Congratulations to our Summer Creek Girls Cross Country Team. The Lady Bulldogs competed in the District Meet at Atascacita yesterday.
    The Junior Varsity Team placed Second overall led by Marilyn Quach with an 8th place finish Amanda Quach, Kaylen Krebs, Taylor Justice, Briana Roenz, and Sofia Edwards.
    The Varsity Team placed Third overall and will compete at regionals next Saturday at Sam Houston State University.

    The Class of 2018 is hosting a Chick-Fil-A spirit night on Wednesday, October 26th.  Visit the Fall Creek location and mention Summer Creek so that a portion of the proceeds can be donated to the Class of 2018. 
    Come to Persona Pizza this Friday after the Football game to join the Starlettes for a fun Pizza Party! A portion of the proceeds will be donated when you mention the Summer Creek Starlettes. Persona is located in Fall Creek, and is open till midnight!
    Anyone interested in trying out for the boys basketball team MUST have Humble ISD Athletics paperwork completed and a physical on file. Go to the boys basketball website for more information.  After all those things are completed you must find Coach Gray to get on the tryout list.  This has to be completed NO LATER THAN OCT 21. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
    All students are welcome to come out and support the Varsity and JV basketball teams during Midnight Madness October 28th at 7:30pm in the gym. Watch dunking contest, 3 point shoot outs and a short scrimmage Also, enjoy live music from our guest DJ Jimbo from 97.9 The Box. Tickets will be sold during all lunches for $3.00 this week and $5.00 next week.

    Court Nominations:  The ballots for Homecoming Court nominations are open.  You can electronically submit your nomination anytime this week by going to the link on the SCHS homepage.
    Each student can write in the name of one male and one female in their own grade level to represent the class on the field.  You will need your Student ID number and computer log-in to participate.
    See your house secretary if you need your log-in password.
    Court Selection Rules:  Students, remember, no campaigning for the homecoming court is allowed.  Unlike in officer elections, court members are nominated and selected by their peers.

    Restorative Justice
    Remember last year's Restorative justice Symposium? Well, Symposium winners Jasmine Reed and Aiyana Bean have started a club that continues the work that the symposium started. Social Outreach Society, also known as SOS, is a club for peer mentoring, and for practicing student led restorative principals. SOS meets on the 1st and 2nd Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be held in Ms. Gibson's room, 1706 on Sept 21st. For more info see ms. Gibson.
