What is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program?

The International Baccalaureate Program is a globally-recognized educational program that teaches from an international perspective with a college-level curriculum.

The IB Diploma Program starts in the 11th grade and lasts for two years up until graduation. Full Diploma students are required to take classes from six different subject areas with examinations at the end of the two-year period.

What type of students are ideal candidates for IB?

The IB Diploma Program is ideal for students who are looking to challenge themselves and earn college credit while still in high school. Students who desire to learn and who seek the best education would be ideal IB candidates. The IB Diploma Program is also ideal for students looking for international careers.

The Humble High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is an academically- acclaimed program that is excellent at preparing students for the rigors of college course work. Some consider it the best in the world. The IBDP curriculum is rigorous, requiring that students complete a two-year program that consists of the study of literature, language, individuals and societies, experimental sciences, mathematics, epistemology and the arts. Students are also expected to complete service projects as well as a 4,000 word college-level research thesis.

Research has shown that IB Diploma students; have a 22% higher acceptance rate into college, up to a 13% higher acceptance rate into some Ivy League institutions, are more likely to attend college, earn higher GPAs while attending college, and have a higher college graduation rate.

The IBDP is proudly offered at Humble High School, and all 8th, 9th and 10th grade students (in-district and out-of-district) are invited to apply. Those wishing to enroll in IB classes must begin at the beginning of 11th grade.

Those earning IB Diplomas are guaranteed a minimum of 24 college hours at Texas public universities.

Students who are invited to participate will benefit from a sophisticated and challenging academic experience as well as opportunities to earn college credit and scholarships. For additional information, please visit the IB website at www.ibo.org.
