    Congratulations to both our Lady Eagles and Boys Varsity Basketball teams for their win against Kingwood last night. Our Ladies beat the Mustangs 91-31 at home, while the Boys beat Kingwood at Summer Creek 51-30. Way to go Eagles!

    Can’t get enough Basketball? Come out tonight and watch our Boys play Channelview at home or follow our Ladies to Channelview for their away game. Game times are 4 pm, 5:30 pm and 7 pm. Good luck Eagles!

    How about some Soccer? Our Boys teams will face Oakridge at Turner Stadium. Game times are 4 pm, 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

    The Lady Eagles Soccer teams play at home vs. Ridge Point. Game times are 4 pm, 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

    Good luck to our AHS Wrestling teams! They will be participating in the Tiger Classic at Klein Collins HS today and tomorrow.

    Congratulations to the 4 choir singers named to the All-State Choir as well as 2 1st Alternates.  These students will attend the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Convention in San Antonio, Texas from February 14-17.

You will need all equipment, cleats, and tennis shoes to tryout and must attend all 3 sessions to be considered.  You must have a physical on file with the trainers and have all RankOne paperwork completed in addition to talking to Coach Boyd prior to January 17th.

    Baseball tryouts will be held on Friday, January 26th at 5:30 pm and on Saturday, January 27th at 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.  Potential players MUST attend ALL THREE workouts in order to be considered.     Last night our Lady Eagles’ Basketball team won over Summer Creek 46-26!  Fantastic win Ladies! They are now 4-0 in District!

    Our Eagles Boys  Basketball team played at Summer Creek last night.  They won 51-39 over Summer Creek to stay undefeated in District.

    The Girls soccer team will be having their annual Red vs. White game this Thursday at 6:00PM at Turner Stadium. This is a fun event where the Varsity captains select squads from the two top teams in the program to compete for bragging rights. Pick your team to support and come out and see who ends up on top!

    Anyone who is interested in the 3rd annual Spring Break HBCU Tour to Cincinnati, OH see Mr. Tatum- Journalism/Yearbook Teacher in Room 1717 in Blue House.

The production will be December 7th and 8th at 7pm, and December 9th at 2pm and 7pm. All tickets are $10 and seating is limited in the smaller theatre. All tickets must be purchased online at theatreAHS.com

    Congrats to the boys basketball team for their 4 over-time win Vs Cy Lakes last night 66-64.   The Eagles were led by Nick Gazelas 20 pts and a great team defensive effort down the stretch. Next game for the Eagles is Saturday 2:30 pm  @ North Forest HS.

    The lady Eagles girls basketball team won Consolation in the Peggy Whitley Tournament this past weekend.  Dari Gabriel was named All Tournament player in the tournament.  The Lady Eagles are back in action tonight @ home vs. Fort Bend Travis @ 4:00, 5:30 & & 7:00.

    Boys varsity golf took home first place Monday in Pearland.  Team was led by senior Keenin Potter who also won first place individual.  Seniors Patrick Williams, Micah Bergamini, and Sophomore Colson Vozza helped bring home the win.

We will have concessions including pizza and Chick-Fil-A, music, games, crafts, a silent auction with some amazing items for you Astros fans, and of course an opportunity to take pictures with Santa.     The Lady Eagle Basketball went into Thanksgiving break winning the Fort Bend Isd Invitational tournament.  They beat, Clements 97-52, Foster 60-33, Memorial 58-37, Ridge Point 83-61 & Hightower 66-54.  Shaniya Klauser was All Tournament Player & DeDe Davis was tournament MVP.  The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow @ home vs. Seven Lakes.     A big thank you to all who attended the Atascocita’s Got Talent show last night. It was a great success! We raised $2,400 for the PTSA Scholarship fund.  Congratulations to our winners. Eclectic who  took 1st place, Brendan Jones 2nd and Nina Cosme 3rd. Special thanks to all of our participants for their amazing talents,  Mr. Cowen, Mr. Vincent, Mr. Davis, Mr. Tumlison and Mr. Truck, Theater performers and Tech Crew Steven, Matt and Kristen, Student Council Officers, and members, Mr. Teniente and the AHS Cello Choir, Mrs. Hobbs and PTSA.

    Student Council’s next service project is the AHS Toy Drive in partnership with HAAM. We  will be collecting toys for all ages starting November 27 through December 6th.

    Everyone is invited to our 3rd Annual Movie Night on December 1st in the back area of the AHS Cafeteria. This year’s movie is “The Grinch” and it’s free for all everyone in our community. We will have vendors, food trucks, games, prizes, a silent auction and music for all from 4:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

    The  Atascocita’s Got Talent is tonight at 7pm in the PAC. Join us for a night filled with incredible talents including Mr. Davis, Mr. Tumlison and Mr. Truck. Tickets are $10 and will be on sale at the door. All ticket sales will be donated to the PTSA scholarship foundation.

    Our Annual food drive ends tomorrow, November 15th.  Our goal is to collect 10,000 food items. So far we have counted over 4,000 items. Showtimes for today and tomorrow are November 10th at 7:30pm, and November 11th at 2pm & 7:30pm. Student tickets are $5 and adult tickets are $10.     Ransom Jacobson wins the Fall regional preview at Eagle Point golf club last weekend shooting scores of 73 - 70.  He led the Eagle to a 3rd place finish. Other team members were Cam Latto, Justin Dees, Eric Breeding, and Andrew Lovejoy.

    Happy Halloween!

    Students, Pass Fail Applications are available for pick up at your house counselor's office and are due back by this Friday, November 3rd at 3:00 pm.

    Our Annual Food Drive “THE HUNGER GAMES” has begun! Our goal  this year is to collect 10,000 items to be donated to HAAM, who serves many of the families in need within our community during the holidays. The teacher that collects the most items, will earn a pizza party for their students. Student will also be able to bring in items to eliminate their ID fines on November 8th and 9th.

    Our annual Spookfest is tonight  from 5pm - 7pm. It’s a community event for all ages. We will be taking food donations. Make sure to tell your friends and family to join us!

    The Science National Honors Society meeting is today right after school in room 1920.

    ATTENTION ALL HBCU TOUR TRAVELERS! There will be a parent meeting on November 1st at 7pm in room 1717 in downstairs blue. If you have any questions about traveling to Cincinnati, OH during Spring Break, please see Coach Tatum in room 1717.

    Atascocita’s Got Talent show will be on November 14th at 7pm in the PAC. Ticket sales will benefit the PTSA Scholarship funds. Seniors, join PTSA to be eligible to apply. Our talent showcase will include magicians, singers, dancers, steppers, actors and musicians. Make sure to save the date

    On Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 23rd and 24th, the AHS Choir Department hosted the TMEA Region 33 All-Region Choir Auditions with over 400 singers auditioning each night. Congratulations to the 45 AHS Choir Students who were selected to the All-Region Choir. These singers will now participate in the All-Region Clinic and Concert on Friday and Saturday, November 10th and 11th at DeKaney High School in Spring. The 23 students who placed in the Mixed Choir will be advancing to the Pre-Area audition on Thursday, November 30 at Humble High School.

    Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams on a successful season!
    A huge congrats to Regional Champion Worthington Moore and 10th place overall winner Benji Maldonado. Both Worthington and Benji are State qualifiers!
    On the girls side Avery Clover finished 4th overall and will be competing at the State Meet. Avery is the first girl Cross Country Athlete to make it to State.  
    The State Meet will be held on Saturday November 4th in Round Rock at Old Settlers Park.  Way to go Eagles!

    Campus news…

    It’s pink out day! We are so grateful to everyone who participated in our Pink Out/Homecoming week. Thanks to your generosity our school raised over $4500 not including t-shirt sales. Together with Summer Creek High School, all funds will be donated to the Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital “In the Pink” foundation.

    Mr. Spivey was the winner of our Kiss the contest yesterday. Make sure to congratulate him for being a great sport. If you missed it, be sure to check out our AHS twitter feed. The Kiss the Pig contest raised over $500 for the “In the Pink” program. Thank you to all of our administrators for volunteering to participate in this very prestigious event.

    Come out to Turner Stadium to find out who won the Pink Out Challenge. If we raised the most money, Mr. Daniels will get to pie Mr. McDonald in the face at the game tonight. Don’t miss out!

    We have sold out of our Pink Out shirts and will provide a grand total of funds raised on Monday.

    Our 3rd annual homecoming tailgate was a great success. Thank you for coming out!

    Party on the Patio is today during all lunches. The Basketball Boosters will be selling BBQ sandwiches and Sausages on a stick for $6 with chips and a drink.

    Tailgate with FFA before the AHS vs SCHS game at the Humble AG Barn next to Turner Stadium from 4:30 - 6:30. They will have food, music and lawn games. The cost is $6 and includes sausage on a stick, chips and a drink. Come join the fun before the game!

    Need a dance Ticket? Tickets will be on sale at the door. Cash only please! Tickets are $20 per person. If you purchased your ticket online, you will check-in at the online payment table at the dance.

    The Varsity Volleyball team had a historic win last night against Kingwood! The Eagles won in 4. Taylor Smith had 17 Kills and 17 digs, Elyssa Coleman had 9 Kills and 5 blocks, Mallory Emswiler had 7 Kills, Carrington Baker 5 Kills, Anna Courcy 17 digs, Julia Bresciani 10 digs and JaNay Wooten had 35 assists! Way to work Eagles! Senior Night is Friday a 4:30 vs. Sterling!

    Our varsity tennis team won their first match of the state playoffs against Dobie Pasadena 10-4, they will play Pearland Dawson on Thursday at Dawson.  Leading the way for the Eagles were Justin Nguyen, Niko Luger, Carson Kirk, Zane Mullinax, Zoi Colrey, and Mallory Meng who all won their matches.  Gracie Phillips and Lily Tapia pulled out a hard fought doubles win.

    In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we close out our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Today we celebrate Karen Christiana Figueres Olsen is a Costa Rican diplomat appointed Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in July 2010. She dedicated herself to rebuilding the global climate change negotiating process based on fairness, transparency and collaboration, leading to the 2015 Paris Agreement, widely recognized as a historical achievement.

    In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Frida Kahlo de Rivera, Considered one of Mexico's greatest artists a Mexican painter, who mostly painted self-portraits. Inspired by Mexican popular culture, she employed a naïve folk art style to explore questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, class, and race in Mexican society.

    In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Mario Vargas Llosa is a Peruvian-Spanish writer who is one of the most significant Latin American personalities of his generation. He is also a politician, journalist and essayist. Llosa was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in literature.

    Please congratulate director, Joey Hunt, and team members Mary Jane McCain, Antonio Campos, Omar Angel Medina, Casey Anders, Amanda Golla, and Maddi Laurento. These students traveled to New York city where they made a movie in just 56 hours. They managed all aspects of the short film including script writing, location scouting, casting, shoots and more. The team was named runner up out of 31 films. Congratulations Eagles.

    Congratulations to the Varsity Boys golf team. They competed in the Lake Travis shootout in Austin this past weekend.  The team set a new school record for 18, 36, and 54 holes.  Senior Ransom Jacobson set a new Individual school and personal best with a score of 64-73.  Senior Theo Maruless shot his personal best with 75-67.  Andrew Lovejoy, Cam Latto, and Justin Dees all contributed to the Eagle golf team record.  

    It’s Our Lady Eagles Volleyball teams “Dig Pink Night” (Cancer Awareness game) vs. Goose Creek Memorial High School. The ladies play at home tonight and the first game starts at 4:30pm. Come out and show your support.

She is a labor leader and civil rights activist who has also advocated for immigrants’ and women’s rights, earning her the Eleanor Roosevelt Award for Human Rights and Presidential Medal of Freedom.

    Homecoming court voting ends today. Students who do not have a social studies class may stop by room 1108 to vote.

    Seniors the University of Virginia is offering a fully funded scholarship called the Jefferson Scholarship, please see Ms. Hall in Blue 1 or Mrs. Graczyk in the Registrar's office.

    In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Carlos Santana a Mexican-American musician who first became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered a fusion of rock and Latin American music.

    Students from the advanced video production and animation teams are leaving today to create a short film on location in New York City. They will have 64 hours to work with professional actors to film, produce and edit. Please congratulate the following students Mary Jane McCain, Alexis Erdo, Garrett Houghton, Antonio Campos, Angel Medina, Casey Anders, Amanda Golla, Joey Hunt and Maddi Laurento.

    In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Baseball player and humanitarian, Roberto Clemente.  He was born in Puerto Rico and played for the Pittsburg Pirates and had a stunning career. He is also remembered for his charity work donating his time and money during the off season. Roberto died in 1972 in a plane crash on his way to deliver donations to victims of an earthquake in Nicaragua.

    Let us all take a moment to recognize that today marks the 16th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.  A morning that started as any other Tuesday quickly turned into a tragedy that has forever changed the fabric of America.  We want to dedicate this moment of silence to the 2,977 victims of the 9/11 attacks, as well as the men and women who have sacrificed their lives since that day defending our great nation.
