• West Lake Middle School

    Humble ISD looks forward to opening a new middle school, currently under construction in The Groves, in August 2018 to serve families as our community grows. Students currently in the fifth, sixth, or seventh grades will be the new middle school’s inaugural classes.

    At the Dec. 12, 2017, Humble ISD Board of Trustees meeting:

    • West Lake Middle School was approved as the name of the new school.

    • The mascot was approved as the Wolves.

    At the Sept. 12, 2017, Humble ISD Board of Trustees meeting:

    • An attendance zone for the new school was approved.
       
    • Dr. Ken Hodgkinson was appointed as the school’s principal. Dr. Hodgkinson brings experience opening a new school, as he served as the inaugural principal for Porter High School. In 2016, he was named Region VI Principal of the Year as well as a State Finalist for Principal of the Year. Dr. Hodgkinson began his education career in a middle school. He started as a math teacher and culminated his six years in middle school serving as the campus principal. Dr. Hodgkinson has 21 years of experience in school administration with New Caney and Aldine ISDs. He earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees at the University of Houston, and studied computer programming at Western Iowa Tech.

    Community meetings for parents to meet Dr. Hodgkinson were held on:

    • Monday, October 16 at Atascocita Springs Elementary

    • Monday, October 23 at Lakeshore Elementary

    • Tuesday, November 7 at Timberwood Middle School
