***************************  COVID 19 Online Learning Opportunites Update  *********************************
Hi all!  I hope that everyone is taking the necessary precautions to keep you and your loved ones healthy.  Students learned about the chain of infection earlier this year and now they are seeing how it applies in a very real world situation.  The current circumstances are uncertain ones and we are navigating them to the best of our abilities.  Please be patient as we try to move from a traditional classroom setting to that of an online learning environment.  This will be a work in progress as we are all learning and adapting.  Just like in healthcare, our patients' status changes - we must be flexible and learn how to meet their individual needs.  Some of those will be easier than others, but I am confident that we will get through this together.  All coursework will be posted in a Google classroom.  This is a new format for our class and myself.  The first step is to have students enroll in their assigned class period Google classroom.  Please see the Google Online Classroom tab to the left and join the appropriate class.  As I stated, this is a new format for me so please be patient.  First step - enroll in the appropriate class.  :-)
Welcome!! This will be my fourth year teaching at Kingwood High School and I'm so excited to be here!  My family and I moved to Kingwood the summer of 2016 from the Austin area.  My husband is also a registered nurse, working as a director at Houston Methodist in the med center.  We have 3 children.  Our 18 year old daughter will be a freshman at Ole Miss this year.  Our middle son is 16 and will be a junior here at KHS.  Our youngest son is 13 and will be in eighth grade at Riverwood Middle School.
Prior to moving to the Kingwood area I taught for a year at Vista Ridge High School in Leander ISD and four years at Stony Point High School in Round Rock ISD.  I've taught almost any health science class available and have been a HOSA advisor for the past eight years.  I'm so happy to see such a large and involved group of students with HOSA and look forward to teaming up with Ms. Lard and Ms. Henderson to make this year a great one!  My background prior to teaching is nursing - primarily in women's services areas such as labor & delivery, high-risk antepartum, and postpartum.  I graduated from Texas Tech University's School of Nursing in 1998 - Guns up!!  I'm also currently enrolled at Univerisity of Texas - Arlington pursuing my Master's degree in Nursing Education.  My favorite part of this profession is the students - I can't wait to meet you all!
