     I am so excited to be teaching 3rd grade this year at ASE!  This will be my 20th year in education!  I taught 5th Grade in Plano, TX for eight years and 4th and 5th grade in Frisco, Texas for five years before we moved to Atascocita.  I received my teaching certification from Michigan State University.  Go Spartans!  I have been working with children since I was eleven years old when I landed my first babysitting job back in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  My love for children only grew from there. My goals for this year are to learn, play, have fun, challenge and guide my students to be the best they can be!   In my class, students will not only respect differences, but they will embrace them! 

 

      My last name is always a great conversation piece!  Feel free to call me Mrs. K!  My last name is Finnish since my husband is from Finland. Believe it or not, my maiden name was Smith!  My family and I moved to Atascocita about 8 years ago for my husband's job.  This will be my 7th year teaching 3rd grade at ASE.   I am so lucky to have found such a wonderful place to work!  I have three fantastic children named Mika, Aili and Andre, aged 22, 19, and 16.  My oldest will be a 5th year senior at Texas Tech this fall.  He is studying chemical engineering like his dad.  Go Red Raiders! My daughter will be a sophomore at UT Austin studying music and business. Hook em!  I also have a beloved black shepherd mix named Shadow and a recently inherited mix of some sort named Rosie.   I love walking with my neighbor and friend, Mrs. Peloquin.  You might recognize her from the front office.   In addition I love traveling, spending time with my family, watching my youngest play soccer, listening to my daughter play the cello, and visiting my oldest in Lubbock whenever I can!
