Welcome to First Grade!
I am EXCITED to have your child in my class this year! It is so thrilling that we will be spending our first grade year together in this beautiful school, Atascocita Springs Elementary! My goal is to make sure that each child knows success and knows that they MATTER. This is our motto at ASE: We Matter…
As you are entrusting me with your child, I would like you to know a little something about me. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I lived in San Antonio for 10 years. I am a graduate of the University of Houston (Go Coogs!) where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Early Childhood Bilingual Education. This will be my 19th year of teaching but 8th year at ASE. I have taught first grade for a while and I am starting my 13th year.
I really enjoy spending time with my family. I married my high school sweet heart, Rey Cardenas, and I have two loving children; Rey Rey, who will be in 9th grade this year at AHS, and Sofia, who is going to 5th grade here at ASE. I also have two furbabies that show me love all the time. Their names are Stella and Luna. Put them together and they spell Stellaluna like in the book! They sure know how to keep me busy.
Parents are the most important people in a child’s life. You and I will work together to ensure your child’s success in the classroom. I will need your support in the areas of academics, homework, and discipline. In return, you can expect me to keep you informed on your child’s school experiences. If we work together, I am confident that we will have a successful year.
