      Congratulations to our Senior Powder Puff girls and their coaches for their amazing win last night. They beat the juniors 19-0. Also,  thank you to our fans who came out to the game. Thanks to you we collected $700 for the Memorial Northeast Hospital Foundation’s “In the Pink” program.

      Join us for our 3rd annual Tailgate today at the AHS Sports Complex.  Come out and watch the freshmen teams play Summer Creek, and enjoy food, music, fun and games. We will have BBQ and Chick Fil A meals for under $10.  Students pay $2 and Adults pay $3 at the door.

      Party on the Patio is this Friday during all lunches. The Basketball Boosters will be selling BBQ sandwiches and Sausages on a stick for $6 with chips and a drink.

      Online ticket sales are now closed. You can purchase your ticket at the door. Cash only please! Tickets are $20 per person. If you purchased your ticket online, you will check-in at the online payment table at the dance.

      If you are bringing a guest to the Homecoming Dance, guest forms must be submitted to your house principal by noon on Friday, October 20th.

      Black Student Union will have a meeting this today at 3pm in the Red LGI. Members must bring their dues.

      Our Eagle Football teams plays Summer Creek this week. JV plays away and Freshman will play at home at the AHS field today. Varsity plays on Friday at Turner Stadium starting at 7pm. Tickets are on sale during all lunches. Students are $3 and Adults are $5. Tickets are $7 at the door.

      It’s Senior Night for our Lady Eagles Volleyball teams this Friday. They will play Sterling High School at home starting at 4:30 pm.

      The Varsity Volleyball team had a historic win last night against Kingwood! The Eagles won in 4. Taylor Smith had 17 Kills and 17 digs, Elyssa Coleman had 9 Kills and 5 blocks, Mallory Emswiler had 7 Kills, Carrington Baker 5 Kills, Anna Courcy 17 digs, Julia Bresciani 10 digs and JaNay Wooten had 35 assists! Way to work Eagles! Senior Night is Friday a 4:30 vs. Sterling!

      Our varsity tennis team won their first match of the state playoffs against Dobie Pasadena 10-4, they will play Pearland Dawson on Thursday at Dawson.  Leading the way for the Eagles were Justin Nguyen, Niko Luger, Carson Kirk, Zane Mullinax, Zoi Colrey, and Mallory Meng who all won their matches.  Gracie Phillips and Lily Tapia pulled out a hard fought doubles win.

      In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we close out our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Today we celebrate Karen Christiana Figueres Olsen is a Costa Rican diplomat appointed Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in July 2010. She dedicated herself to rebuilding the global climate change negotiating process based on fairness, transparency and collaboration, leading to the 2015 Paris Agreement, widely recognized as a historical achievement.

      In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Frida Kahlo de Rivera, Considered one of Mexico's greatest artists a Mexican painter, who mostly painted self-portraits. Inspired by Mexican popular culture, she employed a naïve folk art style to explore questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, class, and race in Mexican society.

      Eagles it’s pep rally day tomorrow.  Who will win the spirit flag this week? The class with the most school spirit will win.

      Congratulations to our 55 AHS Orchestra students that were selected to the Region 33 Orchestra by audition this past weekend.       In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Mario Vargas Llosa is a Peruvian-Spanish writer who is one of the most significant Latin American personalities of his generation. He is also a politician, journalist and essayist. Llosa was awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in literature.

      Please congratulate director, Joey Hunt, and team members Mary Jane McCain, Antonio Campos, Omar Angel Medina, Casey Anders, Amanda Golla, and Maddi Laurento. These students traveled to New York city where they made a movie in just 56 hours. They managed all aspects of the short film including script writing, location scouting, casting, shoots and more. The team was named runner up out of 31 films. Congratulations Eagles.

      Please come by the AHS library all week October 9-13th to buy a used book !!! They have Paperbacks are only .50 cents and Hardbacks are only $1.00. All proceeds will benefit Harvey Relief for the KHS library!

      Congratulations to the Varsity Boys golf team. They competed in the Lake Travis shootout in Austin this past weekend.  The team set a new school record for 18, 36, and 54 holes.  Senior Ransom Jacobson set a new Individual school and personal best with a score of 64-73.  Senior Theo Maruless shot his personal best with 75-67.  Andrew Lovejoy, Cam Latto, and Justin Dees all contributed to the Eagle golf team record.  

      It’s Our Lady Eagles Volleyball teams “Dig Pink Night” (Cancer Awareness game) vs. Goose Creek Memorial High School. The ladies play at home tonight and the first game starts at 4:30pm. Come out and show your support.

      Tennis plays away at Goose Creek Memorial High School.

      Our Eagle Football teams will face North Shore High School this Thursday and Friday. There will be a fan bus for those interested in going to the Varsity game on Friday.       In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Carlos Fuentes, one of the most influential writers in the Latin American world. Fuentes wrote novels, short stories and plays, as well as political non-fiction and essays that criticized the Mexican government during the 1980s and '90s.

      In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Carlos Santana a Mexican-American musician who first became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, Santana, which pioneered a fusion of rock and Latin American music.

      Students from the advanced video production and animation teams are leaving today to create a short film on location in New York City. They will have 64 hours to work with professional actors to film, produce and edit.       In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate best-selling author Isabel Allende. She published her first and most acclaimed novel, House of the Spirits, in 1985. She has lived and worked in the U.S. since 1988.

      It’s Kingwood week! Student Council and SOAR Book Club are sponsoring “Books for a Cause”.  Please Bring gently used books to the AHS Library to benefit KHS Library that was damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

      Student Council is also selling Humble ISD Strong and Beat Kingwood bracelets to raise money for KHS. Bracelets are $1 and are sold during all lunches.

      In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Baseball player and humanitarian, Roberto Clemente.  He was born in Puerto Rico and played for the Pittsburg Pirates and had a stunning career. He is also remembered for his charity work donating his time and money during the off season. Roberto died in 1972 in a plane crash on his way to deliver donations to victims of an earthquake in Nicaragua.

      In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, today we celebrate Mario Molina a Nobel Prize winning scientist who is recognized for his work on understanding how the ozone layer is formed and depleted. This crucial work in atmospheric chemistry had a profound impact on our environment.

      The AHS Leadership Institute will be this Saturday, September 23rd. Participants must arrive at 8:30 for check-in and registration. If you didn’t pay online, you can pay your $15 at the door, cash only.

      Attention All students:
      Have you ever thought of doing community service abroad?  Then join us on a great adventure next summer in Mexico where we will help an orphanage while learning the rich culture of Mexico in beautiful Cancun.  There will be a parent meeting on September 20th  at 6:30 p.m. in room T-16.  See Mr. Campbell in Room T-16 for more information.


      The AHS librarians will be hosting a used book drive the whole month of september. This book drive will help benefit the Kingwood Library. For more information see Mrs. Sewell in the library.

      Special Announcement to Commemorate 9/11

      Let us all take a moment to recognize that today marks the 16th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.  A morning that started as any other Tuesday quickly turned into a tragedy that has forever changed the fabric of America.  We want to dedicate this moment of silence to the 2,977 victims of the 9/11 attacks, as well as the men and women who have sacrificed their lives since that day defending our great nation.

      Good job to both the Girls and Boys Cross Country teams on their first meet this past Saturday. Worthington Moore came in 2nd place. Way to go Eagles!
