Technology has become integral in education. To insure that the students attending Jack Fields Elementary School are introduced to technology and prepared for the future, all classes in grades 1-5 visit the computer lab at least once a week.
The Humble ISD Instructional Technology Department strives to support student learning through the use of technology in the classroom. We are achieving just that! Your children have been busy discovering, learning and creating in Technology at JFE!
The technology in our lab consists of the following:
In addition, each classroom is equipped with a ceiling mounted projector, a Mobi interactive whiteboard, a document camera and a student computer center. Additionally, we have a class set of iPADs with grade level appropriate apps that can be checked out by the teachers.
- 25 PCs
- A Mobi Interactive Whiteboard
- Document Camera
- Color printer
- Internet Access
- Educational software programs for all grades
- a digital camera and a color scanner
- a Polycom unit for video conferencing and connecting to other classrooms or distance learning providers throughout the United States
Dear JFE Families,
During the coming year the JFE Computer Lab will welcome your children every other week. The lab truly is a special place where we re-enforce and extend the PreK –fifth grade curriculum with lessons that either use programs installed on our desktop machines or through the use of age-appropriate applicable websites.
We start the year with a review of the parts of the computer, how to log on and off our classroom accounts and internet safety information. Letting the students recognize that to be safe in the lab requires them to follow the lab rules. We go over the lab rules and discuss the importance of each rule.
For all parents and guardians, if you need to contact me, my email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Looking forward to a great year working with your children.
