CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

  • Classroom Expectations

    • Be on time.
    • Be Present and Attentive
    • Be kind and respectful to others and to myself
    • Be prepared when you arrive for class (with needed materials)

    Classroom Policies

    Electronic Devices:

AHS is an open device campus. However, my classroom is not. During class time, phone use is prohibited unless otherwise specified by the teacher. This is to ensure that students are present and focused on their studies.

    Absences:

If you are absent, YOU are responsible for missed learning, quizzes, and tests. Students must check the absent crate or Schoology, for any missing work and that day's instructional PowerPoint. Students who are absent MUST also attend a tutorial session within a week of the day missed.

    Tardiness:

Students who arrive after the tardy bell has rung, must go to the house secretary for a tardy pass. No students will be admitted to the classroom after the bell without a pass.

  • Welcome Students and Parents

Welcome AHS Class of 2026 Parents and Students,

My name is Mrs. Kimbre O’Neil and I will be teaching English I  courses this year. I am so excited to welcome the class of 2026 to Atascocita High School.

    Course Information

Here are a few tips and reminders as we begin the new school year.

    • Bus route information can be found on the school website. http://www.humbleisd.net/Page/30220

    • Report card and progress report dates are on the website as well.

    • The building is fairly chilly, please bring a light jacket.

    • Attendance is key to staying on track here at AHS. Please come on time every day, so you do not miss out on instruction or activities.

    • Have fun and look into the many opportunities to get involved on campus.

    • Remember, the teachers and staff at AHS are here to see you succeed; please let us know how we can help.

    Supplies

As for our English I class this year, you will need a few items stocked throughout the year. We will be reading and writing every day. To that end students will need a composition notebook and dedicated English folder by Friday 8/12.

You will need the appropriate materials for this each day. Pick up plenty of pencils, erasers, pens, paper, and highlighters. Should you want to contribute to the classroom supplies, tissues, germ-x, pencils, markers, and highlighters are very appreciated. If you are unable to obtain supplies for this classroom, I can absolutely get those materials for your student. Please let me know if I can assist in any way as we go through the year. Also, please secure an easy location for you to print work. The school library is one option available to students as long as they have planned ahead of time.

While we will typically offer limited copies of required reading to be checked out and returned, many students prefer to have their own copies of our class texts. You may purchase these at your favorite book retailer or through our campus link here. In addition to being convenient to you, funds raised through this link actually helps us to purchase more books for our department!

In addition, you may want to bring a choice book from home, as daily independent reading will be a required part of the course. I will also have a selection of books available for in-class use.

    Final Notes

I have attached our first nine-week unit plan as well as a class syllabus. These have been provided on the first day and are always available on the website and Schoology to view or print. You can access my class website at: https://www.humbleisd.net/Domain/5899

Students will be utilizing Schoology this year. Any assignments or resources your student will need throughout the year will be located there. However, ALL assignments will be turned in in class.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

We are ALL IN FOR THE EAGLE
