The Atascocita High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC Program has been selected as a Naval Honor School for the ninth straight year! This designation is reserved for the top performing Junior ROTC Programs in Region Five, which consists of over (60) schools in several states. The selection process begins with each program turning in a package highlighting exceptional performance in areas to include, but not limited to Academic Rigor, Unit Awards, Scholarships, Community Service, Drill/Color Guard Competition, Physical Fitness, Marksmanship, and Career Progression.

PURPOSE OF MARINE CORPS JUNIOR ROTC
The purpose of the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program, commonly referred to as “Junior ROTC,” is to instill a value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. It does not seek any particular commitment to the military.
MISSION OF MARINE CORPS JUNIOR ROTC
- Develop informed and responsible citizens.
- Develop leadership skills.
- Strengthen character.
- Promote an understanding of the basic elements and requirements for national security.
- Help form habits of self-discipline.
- Develop respect for, and an understanding of, the need for constituted authority in a democratic society.

Tuesday - Uniform Inspection/Drill
Wednesday - Physical Training (3rd, 5th, & 7th)
Thursday - Physical Training (2nd, 4th, & 6th)
Friday - Professional Development/Assessment
AFTER SCHOOL PRACTICE (Normally 1515 to 1630 - may extend practice to 1700 the week of competition.)
Monday - Armed/Unarmed Drill (1515-1600), Color Guard (1600-1630), Staff Work (1630-1700)
Tuesday - Armed/Unarmed Drill (1515-1600), Color Guard (1600-1630), Staff Work (1630-1700)
Wednesday - Tutorials (1515-1600), Armory Staff Work (1600-1630)
Thursday - Armed/Unarmed Drill (1515-1600), Color Guard (1600-1630), Staff Work (1630-1700)
Friday - Staff Meeting @ 0645 (Bn Commander, Executive Officer, Bn Sergeant Major and Ops Officer). **Any scheduled team practice for the next week will be announced.**
