Foods for today is designed for 7th and 8th graders to learn the basics of food preparation and nutrition in one semester. Topics covered are cooking terms, kitchen equipment, reading a recipe, measuring, kitchen safety, table setting, and etiquette. A variety of teaching methods are used such as hands on activities, DVD's, and textbooks.
Principles of Hospitality and Tourism consists of two semesters and is designed for 8th graders to explore the industry as a career option while earning one credit for high school. The five areas of study are food and beverage, travel, tourism, recreation, and lodging. A variety of teaching methods are used which consists of internet assignments, online textbook, DVD's, and hands on activities.
