Born and raised in the Humble area, I attended Humble ISD schools since third grade: Timbers Elementary, Atascocita Middle School, Humble High School, and Atascocita High School. This year, I'm excited to be at Humble High School as the English I Pre-IB T-STEM, English II Pre-IB T-STEM, and T-STEM AVID Elective teacher!
After graduating from Atascocita High School in 2008, I attended the University of Texas at Austin. The innumerable educational opportunities offered by a world-class university helped me find my passion for teaching and learning. In 2012, I graduated from UT-Austin with a bachelor's degree. A few years a later, I completed an online program through the University of Texas at Tyler to earn a master's degree in education with a focus on reading.
As a teacher, I believe every student can become a better reader and writer. I believe education should be about enriching experiences, not just paper-and-pencil tests. I believe students deserve choice when learning based on their own passions, interests, and life goals.
Outside of education, my husband and I enjoy spending time together while discovering new places to eat, playing collaborative games with friends, and watching a variety of TV shows. Currently, we’re expecting our first child. In fact, he should be here any day now since his expected due date is August 7! Because of our little boy’s arrival, I won’t be joining you in class (yet!), but I look forward to learning with all of you soon.
