    Dual-Credit Art Facilitator

    Gators Family Leader

Greetings! I am Mr. Adrian Gipson, I teach the Dual-Credit Art Appreciation course here at Sconzo ECHS. Not only will your students get to work on some fun and enriching art projects, but they will also earn college credit while at it.

I align this course with the Texas TEKS, and the course requirements with Lone Star Kingwood. In Art Appreciation, we focus on the elements and principles of art and design. These are the building blocks of all visual arts. The students will get to experiment with different art media, such as pencil, watercolor, acrylic paints, and clay sculptures.

We also cover art history. It is important for students to understand where current society fits in within the past, present, and future of visual arts. Most teachers like to focus on "The What and the Why," in their class. The "What" that we discuss in this class is the elements of art, while the "Why" is often to communicate. These two ideas help structure and focus the discussions we have on art in class.
