    Attendance Office Hours

    Monday-Friday 8am-4pm

What if I miss an entire day of school?

When you miss an entire day or multiple days of school, you have 2 school days upon your return to submit an excuse note to the attendance office.  The written note can be from a parent or from a doctor, but it must be turned in within 2 school days of your return. Please include the following information in the note: student name, student ID number, date of absence, contact number, and reason for absence.  Any absences not cleared within that 48 hour window will be recorded as unexcused absences or truancies. When a student accumulates a certain number of unexcused absences or truancies, Humble ISD can and will pursue the matter as a violation of the State of Texas compulsory attendance laws and the campus will assign disciplinary consequences.

Should students develop a questionable pattern of excessive absences, administrators may require a statement from a doctor in order to determine if the absences are excused or unexcused.

What if I need to leave early?

If your student needs to leave early, the student can bring a parent note indicating an early check-out to the attendance office before 1st period.

The parent or guardian checking the student out of school must show a driver’s license or some form of identification upon arrival to the school.  We will send for the student after the person picking them up has checked into the front office.

Students who return to school the same day of the check-out are required to sign back in through the attendance office when they return. They can check themselves back in with a doctor’s note.

Telephone check-outs are to be used only for emergency situations.  If you are calling over the phone to check your student out early, attendance specialist will be asking a series of questions to verify the identity of the caller.  This is both for the safety and security of our students and to prevent unauthorized check-outs and truancy. This should be used for emergencies only. The quickest and most efficient way to have your student checked out of school is to send a note with them before school.

Students who are ill must go to the nurse’s office in order to be checked out of school.  Students should not contact their parents via cell phone to check out for an illness. They must go through the clinic.

Students cannot check out of school early after 3:40 p.m. unless it is arranged with a parent note before school as stated above.  Last minute in-person or telephone check-outs cannot be accommodated after 3:40 p.m.

Who can pick my student up from school?

Students will be released to anyone listed as a parent or guardian in eSchool.  Students can also be released to individuals listed as emergency contacts in eSchool, however the campus will contact the parent or guardian for permission.  For the safety of your students, students cannot be released to any individual not listed as a contact of some kind.

What if I am late to school?

Students who arrive to school between 8:30-8:45 should go directly to the front office for a tardy.  Students arriving after that time are considered absent and should sign in at the attendance office upon their arrival.  Students arriving after 8:45 with a note from a parent or doctor, the absence will be considered excused. If students arrive after 8:45 without a note, the absences will be considered unexcused and disciplinary actions will be taken.
